The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has announced that the Region 2 Merit Scholarship Program application is now available online. This scholarship program is intended to provide financial assistance to financially disadvantaged students who demonstrate academic excellence. What is the CHED Merit Scholarship Program?

The CHED Merit Scholarship Program is a scholarship grant provided by the Commission on Higher Education to support students with outstanding academic performance who are financially unable to support their studies.t is the CHED Merit Scholarship Program. There is a full scholar and the so-called half scholar.

Who is Eligible for the CHED Merit Scholarship Program in Region 2?

1. Filipino citizen;

2. Garduate of Senior High School or Graduating

3. General Weighted Average - (Full SSP and Full Private Education Student Financial Assistance - 96% or equivalent, Half SSP and Half PESFA 93-95 % or equivalent)

4. Parents' or guardian's combined gross annual income can't be more than PHP 400,000.00; and

5. Student-applicants who belong to a special group, like Underprivileged and Homeless Citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) Solo Parents and/or their Dependents, and Indigenous Peoples (must submit certification and/or Identification Cards (IDs) issued by the right offices or agencies).

What are the Requirements Needed to Apply for CHED Scholarship?

Citizenship

  • Authenticated Copy of Birth Certificate
  • For Senior High School Graduates, a copy of their High School Report Card has been authenticated. 
  • Senior High School Graduating Students must submit an official copy of their Grade 11 and Grade 12 first-semester grades.

Income: Student applicants must submit one of the following income-related documents:
  • If employed, most recent Income tax return (ITR) of parents or guardian.
  • Bureau of Internal Revenue  Tax Exemption Certificate
  • Certificate of Indigency issued by the Barangay or the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD);
  • Children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and seafarers may submit the most recent copy of their contract proving their income
Others: Any evidence of the following
    1. Parent is/are a senior citizen
    2. Constituting the indigenous population
    3. Included in Person with Disability (PWD) category
    4. Underprivileged and homeless residents

CHED Scholarship Coverage

Full Scholarship Coverage

  • Private College/University-120 000 per year
  • Public College/University-60000 per year

Half Scholarship Coverage

  • Private College/University-80 000 per year
  • Public College/University-40000 per year

How to Apply for the CHED Merit Scholarship Program in Region 2?

  1. Visit the CHED scholarship online application portal to apply for a scholarship.
  2. Fill out the online application form, including your name, address, mobile phone number, email address, the school and course you wish to enroll in, as well as your family history. It is crucial not to leave any spaces blank. Specify N/A if the question does not apply to you.
  3. Ensure that your requirements are in jpeg or pdf format before submitting the application.
  4. The final step of the application is to upload the aforementioned required documents.
  5. Submit the application and wait for acknowledgement of receipt.
